Our Garage door spring snapped in half over the weekend. Tradewind Hawaii got back to me early the next day via email and quickly scheduled me for the following business day. The response time was so quick! The technician JR called for some photos and gave me his expected time of arrival and fixed the garage door in about an hour. He was super friendly and professional. He even serviced the garage door, it was a touch squeaky before. The price for fixing the garage was very reasonable and was half the price of another quote I got. I really appreciated that they are not price gauging. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely use them again and send other people to them. Thank you!

I had an awesome experience with Tradewind Hawaii Garage Doors. From start to finish, they truly underpromised and overdelivered. I called on a Monday needing a spring replacement. Although they were busy and initially scheduled me for Friday, they managed to fit me in by Tuesday due to a cancellation. By that afternoon, the repair was done, and my garage door was working even better than before the spring broke. The entire process was smooth, highly professional, and also very friendly. They quickly found the right parts and handled everything efficiently. On top of that, the overall price was very reasonable in my opinion. I couldn’t be happier and would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing garage door service.

Their technician, JR, really knows garage door openers, he's helped us many times, always gets it working. This latest visit proved to be the last for our opener, it was broken beyond adjustment or repair. Luckily, JR had a new one in his truck and immediately swapped it out, saving scheduling another appointment, done in one! Claire, the new owner, is very nice and returned my message requesting a service call the very next morning! Jo, who also answers the phone in the office, is also very pleasant to speak with, they have a good team there and totally handle any garage door issues. Nothing but praise for Tradewind Hawaii!

I’m writing this review to protect other people from the awful experience I had with Tradewind Hawaii Garage Doors.I started correspondence with Brian, the salesperson at the company at the end of October 2024. Because I selected a custom glass garage door Brian explained that it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get it. I gave them a 50% deposit on 11/8/24, to get it on order so I could have it by the beginning of January 2025.On 12/5/24, I checked on the status of the door to make sure it was still on track. Brian said he was trying to get in contact with the manufacturer and was having a call with them that afternoon and would follow up with me. I didn’t hear anything so I reached out on 12/18/24, to find out that the manufacturer lost my order and now the door will be delayed until the end of January.After the holidays on 1/4/25, I reached out again to check on the status because my remodel was wrapping up. He didn’t get back to me until 1/9/25, but let me know that my door was scheduled to be out of production on 1/16/25, and we should be good for the last week of January for installation.On 1/24/25, I reached out to see if we were on track for installation the following week. This is when he let me know that the manufacturer lost my garage door. Brian was going to call the manufacturer that coming Monday 1/27/25, and follow up with me Monday. I never heard anything that week, so on Friday 1/31/25, I left an email and voicemail for Brian saying if I didn’t hear back from him that day, I wanted my deposit refunded. Then I received a text message from Clair, the owner, for the first time stating she was going to call. She explained that the manufacturer couldn’t find my door, but they were looking for it and she would know more by that Monday, so I agreed to what until Monday.Monday 2/3/25, Clair said she was looking into it. I didn’t hear anything back that day and waited until the next day and checked in with her Tuesday 2/4/25. At that time, she told me they found the door and it was going to ship out Thursday 2/6/25 and they will have it in 10 days. I agreed to wait at this point because I just wanted my garage door because I’m now working in my office with a big hole where the door is supposed to be.Friday 2/14/25, I texted Clair to check on the status of the door because by then she should have received a tracking number and be able to see when the door was arriving. She didn’t get back to me for a day and when she did it was a quick text now saying it is another 10 days out from that date. I texted back and just asked what happened to the original 10 days? She never replied I was just ignored.The following Friday 2/21/25, I texted Clair for an update, by the end of the day she never responded now I’m just being ignored and told her I don’t want this thing to go legal. Later that night I got a nasty text message from her saying that my door was coming in on Monday 2/24/25, and she would contact me to make plans. Monday came and Clair never contacted me.Tuesday 2/25/25, I cancelled the order because I never received a response. They did refund my deposit, but that isn’t the point I have now lost 16 weeks of my time and must start all over with another company.I own two companies myself, one here in Kona, so I know how the shipping from the mainland works. What should have happened after the first incident in December is they should have been checking in on that to make sure nothing else happened. Instead, I did all the follow-up with them and kept getting the go around with what was going on.I think we all have delt with companies like this who don’t care when things go wrong, they don’t follow up and when your patients wear out, they try to spin it on you and play that they are the victim. The only way to battle companies like this is to not give them business. There are companies out there that do care about their clients and will have good communication and service. I have emails and text messages supporting everything.

This is definitely the garage door business to beat on the Big Island! Brian was very knowledgeable about brands and models, and gave us some good advice. He was fast to respond to my many inquiries. Ron and Hayden made quick work of the installation, and did a beautiful job. The service from Tradewind couldn't be better. Highly recommend.
